FALLOUT 76

LEVEL DESIGNER ║ GAME DESIGNER ║ NARRATIVE DESIGNER

Fallout 76 is the popular online experience of the beloved titular series. I am currently working on this project and I have had the opportunity to create complex, interesting levels whilst also expanding on my narrative and more generalist design skills.

NUKA WORLD ON TOUR

Design Overview:

  • Explore the travelling spin off of the popular ‘Nuka World’ from Fallout 4.

  • Participate in lots of exciting events with your friends. Spin the giant wheel, take on Gunther’s Wild West Show, ride the Tunnel of Love or perhaps investigate the abandoned rollercoaster that rises high above the rest of the carnival and discover why some things are better left undisturbed…

Learning Outcomes:

  • Lots of first person level design experience in a multiplayer setting with spaces that had to accommodate between one and twelve players. Worked on multiple levels simultaneously - Spin the Wheel and the Tunnel of Love.

  • Developed a better understanding of positive and negative space in a level.

  • Cross-department communication to realise one central thematic.

  • First writing experience professionally, crafting interesting characters that guided the player through the Tunnel of Love.

  • Also iterated on some pre-existing characters, working closely with older source material to ensure continuity.


ONCE IN A BLUE MOON

Design Overview:

  • Take part in two brand new events that revisit some familiar locations, with unfamiliar new monsters…

Learning Outcomes:

  • Continued first person, multiplayer level design experience. Specifically a swamp, where players would come together to defeat Cultists and take down the Ogua: a brand new cryptid designed specifically for this patch.

  • Worked on weapon design, crafting new, melee weapons for players to earn from successfully completing the event.

  • First experience leading a smaller patch. I worked closely with a tight knit team to ensure this content shipped on time. This included completing my own work whilst reviewing and overseeing the work of other designers, and assisting them with level and narrative feedback, idea generation and engine knowledge.
