Minecraft Dungeons: Hidden Depths was the first professional project I worked on as a level designer. It is the fifth DLC in the series and takes place in an ocean biome.
LAVA MONUMENT
Design Overview:
A secret, epic volcanic dungeon nestled into a larger underwater air pocket.
Traverse the Radiant Ravine until you stumble upon a secret entrance to an epic volcanic dungeon nestled into an underwater air pocket.
Take on various platforming puzzles and conqueror the fiery lava geysers, but be careful not to stand on them as they sink into the lava!
Learning Outcomes:
Worked closely with another level designer on this content. Allowed me to practice combining two different design styles.
Also presented challenges as we had to compromise and iterate together to ensure the level flowed perfectly.
First taste of designing, planning and implementing a new mechanic - this being the ‘lava geysers’ which rise and fall and make up the main platforming gameplay.
Developed my cross department communication as I worked with art, programming and audio to bring the mechanic to life.
